The People’s March for Community Safety & Power

Since August, the federal takeover of Washington D.C. law enforcement has been escalating and both the federal and local governments are making it clear that they are waging a domestic war on African (Black) working class and migrant diaspora people. Arrests, deportations, and raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have surged in Washington, D.C. as a part of this crackdown and has also emboldened the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) to harass and make more arrests of Black working class people, especially our youth.

The false notion that the policies of the federal and local DC governments are for public safety must be rejected. The debate over federal takeover versus local government control is a distraction. The only solution to both community safety and government repression is to organize for power. Not reform. The people most subjected to the oppressive policies of the system must organize.
